BPM vs. Workflow

What is M-BPM?

M-BPM are mobile devices, such as PDA and Smartphones, that users can use to provide quotations, place orders, sign approvals, and various other business processes, enabling business processes not being restricted to time and location, while continuing to proceed.

As features become more complete and lower priced PDAs and Smartphones become more popular, applications of wireless technologies is not just a dream anymore. According to an investigation, more than 45 million professionals around the world need to work outside of the office. Also on average, more than 280 million people need to go on business trips. In 2005, to adjust to this type of environmental change, 46% of US enterprises deployed mobile technologies on a department basis, while 20% of US enterprises have deployed mobile technologies on a company wide basis. Looking into the future, it is a trend for enterprises to move on from just electronic processes to mobile processes. Yet, companies that can enable their personnel to surf the internet or send/receive emails regardless of location does not represent an increase in personnel work productivity. To ensure the competitiveness of the enterprise and to implement the concept of mobile office requires close integration and linkage of personnel with key information, enabling related personnel to be able to communication and interact with the information systems in the company outside of the office.

AboveE is introducing the best mobile solution based on optimized business processes and system integration. By utilizing the Power Process BPM Suite based on WfMC standardized business process management systems (BPMS) and the Push Data technology architecture by FarEasTone. It can integrate and link key data from EPR, CRM, KM, and Portal or information storage system such as RDBMS and MQ horizontally, and use the automated push method to send related information automatically to the user's mobile device. The user also has reply options such as confirm, approve, and return that can be sent back as a reply instantly, enabling a complete link with the back end enterprise information systems. Enterprises can quickly deploy mobile solutions using existing electronic process systems so business processes are not delayed due to personnel not in the office, thereby enabling the enterprise to provide faster and better service quality.

M-BPMS solutions can be applied to almost every industry, such as life insurance, financial, care, transportation, manufacturing, medical, and agencies, and even government and education institutions. Using the online approval as an example, business can apply it in the following areas:

  • Personnel activities (leave request forms, approvals)

  • Enterprise forms (quotation forms, purchasing forms)

  • Mobile displacement of repair service industries, Receiving/replying displacements, dispatchment record confirmations

  • Taking inventory of goods and returning daily reports.

  • Receiving patient health records in real time

  • Looking up school information anytime

  • Enterprise messages that needs instant confirmation, meeting notices, and travel information
